What’s it all about

St. Enoch Centre is the only mixed-use destination in Glasgow’s city centre, providing retail, dining and leisure facilities all under one roof. For lovers of coffee, there are currently 17 outlets which serve coffee 363 days of the year! As well as having your pick of where to have a brew, you might be surprised to learn that St. Enoch Centre is pretty forward thinking in how it deals with its coffee waste. In 2018 the Centre piloted a collection scheme of coffee grounds generated within its venues, which were then reused to enrich the compost needed for the plants throughout the shopping centre. The concept saw retailers come together in a bid to embrace the circular economy, with the likes of Starbucks, Costa, Muffin Break, Di Maggio’s, McDonald’s, KFC, Pizza Hut, Aulds and Burger King all on board. Why not visit a few and see which one’s your favourite?!

‘With 17 tenants serving coffee every day of the week, St. Enoch Centre is excited to be a partner with Grounds for Recycling, a campaign which aligns with the Centre’s on-going objective of creating circularity within the shopping centre.

With a recently completed £50 million mixed use development, St. Enoch is committed to sustainable and responsible growth. The Centre has been working with Circular Glasgow for over 5 years on innovative circular initiatives including capturing waste coffee grounds to enrich the compost used for the centre’s indoor plants; launching The Pram Project which rehomed refurbished prams to those in need, partnering with Apparel Xchange which retails pre-loved kids clothes and school uniforms, as well as running sustainable business and school competitions. The Centre is currently home to The Leith Collective, an award-winning ethical shopping experience which reclaims and resells items that may otherwise have been destined for landfill.’
