Glasgow Science Centre
Visitor Attraction & Coffee Shop
What’s it all about
One of the most iconic buildings on the banks of the River Clyde – and one of the city’s best-loved family visitor attractions to boot – Glasgow Science Centre offers fantastic interactive fun for all ages. Visitors can experience shows in the state-of-the-art Planetarium, an IMAX film on Scotland’s biggest screen, or even take a trip up the 127m tall Glasgow Tower for amazing views across the city.
Glasgow Science Centre’s IMAX coffee shop is open to the public – not just Science Centre visitors. There, you can take your pick from hearty soups and sandwiches to sweet treats like cakes and pastries, to set you up for a long cycle along one of the many nearby cycle routes. Serving independent locally roasted Matthew Algie coffee, Glasgow Science Centre already boosts a circular closed loop system, sending all coffee waste to be composted alongside their plant-based compostable foodservice packaging, Vegware. Keen to raise awareness of the city’s wider coffee waste, the team at the IMAX coffee shop are kindly redirecting their spent coffee to support our campaign, using it as an opportunity to encourage other businesses to adopt more circular and sustainable solutions for their longer-term coffee waste.
‘We are proud to have an existing nose to tail recycling system but delighted to be a supporter of ‘Grounds for Recycling’. We are keen to get involved in opportunities that enhance our green credentials, raise awareness around food waste and the positive impact even small changes can make.’
– Terry Stevenson, Café Manager, Glasgow Science Centre
